Denver Post Educational Services
2009 SUMMER TEACHER CONFERENCE

July 24, 2009
8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Metro State College
Auraria Campus

Spend an exciting day learning how to use the newspaper and historic primary sources to bring the real world into your classroom. For example, Everyday Economics, a newspaper resource, teaches students economic concepts underlying the news. Primary sources help students relate the Great Depression to today.

Topics will include:

Healthy Economy: The economics behind current events and addressing the new K-12 Financial Literacy standards.

Healthy Environment: alternative energies, recycling, and natural resources.

Healthy Kids: Help students make smart decisions about a wide variety of health issues, including childhood obesity, fitness, and nutrition, and learn ways to engage them in philanthrophy and social action.

Plus learn more about the 21st Century Skills that are being used in the development of updated Colorado Model Content Standards.

  • Sessions are geared for 3-12 grades and all content areas.
  • Only $65 (includes breakfast and lunch).
  • Graduate credit is available from Adams State College for an additional cost of $55 for .5 hours, $82.50 for 1 hour and $110 for 1.5 hours of credit. (outside homework required for 1 and 1.5 credits.)
